Georgia car accident may present cause for legal claims

On Behalf of | May 12, 2017 | Uncategorized

Though many precautions are put in place to make the roadways safe, people are injured or killed on a daily basis. Drivers who feel that the rules do not apply to them put other travelers at considerable risk, but even individuals who try to be present and aware on the road can make a mistake that costs lives. Unfortunately, a fatal car accident can have lasting impacts.

It was recently reported that a serious crash took place in Georgia. Apparently, the incident involved two vehicles traveling in opposite directions. The first car was heading north and traveling through a curve when it went off the side of the road. The driver presumably overcorrected as the vehicle then went over the center dividing line and began to spin. The car then hit a minivan that was heading south before flipping.

The incident caused two individuals in the car to be thrown from the vehicle. An 11-year-old child suffered fatal injuries in the crash, and a 33-year-old woman and a 7-year-old child were both taken from the scene with injuries. Three individuals in the minivan also suffered injuries and were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

If the minivan occupants suffered serious injuries in the car accident, the situation may warrant legal action. In hopes of gaining compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering, and other permitted damages, the affected parties or their parents may wish to file personal injury claims. Regardless of their relationship with the driver of the first car, a personal injury and wrongful death claim, respectively, may be made on behalf of the two children in that vehicle. Information on taking this type of legal action in Georgia may help them determine whether it could be in their best interests.
